Stop Building Chatbots. Start Building Workflows.
Nobody wants to chat with your brand. Users want results, not conversation. The best AI is invisible.
Nobody Wants to Chat with Your Brand
Placing a chat bubble in the bottom right corner is lazy AI design. Users do not want to type "Show me my analytics." They want a dashboard that is already built for them.
The Problem with Chatbots
The "Chat" interface is overused because it is easy to build. But it puts the burden on the user. They have to know what to ask, phrase it correctly, and wait for a response. This is friction, not intelligence.
The Alternative: Generative UI
Use AI to predict what the user needs and show it. Do not force them to prompt. Instead of a chat interface, build:
- Proactive dashboards that surface relevant data before the user asks
- Smart forms that pre-fill based on context
- Adaptive interfaces that reorganize based on user behavior
- Automated workflows that trigger based on events, not commands
When Chat Makes Sense
Chat interfaces are appropriate when:
- The problem space is genuinely open-ended
- Users have highly variable needs that cannot be predicted
- The system needs to gather information through conversation
- You are building an internal tool for power users
For everything else, build workflows.
The Design Principle
The best AI is invisible. It just does the job. If the user has to think about the AI, you have failed at design.
We design "Generative UI" where the interface adapts to the user, minimizing the need for chat. The goal is zero-friction intelligence.
